Seniors Have This Hope In our throw-away society
a senior citizen can get to feeling pretty useless. No longer able to carry a
load of work and service, often struggling with financial and physical problems, they feel afraid to complain to the younger
generation for fear of being “put” in a nursing home, or ignored. Loneliness is a constant companion. Often nights
are consumed with pain and days with worry. To whom can they go for comfort and consolation?
Who will lift the fears and pain? Who will listen? For those who have learned
from an early age to trust God in every situation they might be saying; “My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is
the strength of my heart and my portion forever.” Psalm 73:26 They
might be meeting each day praising God and saying; “This I call to mind and therefore I have hope: Because of the Lord’s
great love we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is Thy faithfulness.”
Lamentations 3: 21-23 For others who have not
known this Hope they might find comfort to know…. “Blessed
is he whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord his God, the Maker of heaven and earth, the sea and everything
in them – the Lord, who remains faithful forever.” Psalm 146:5-6 “For
I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give
you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11 “Praise
the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits – who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems
your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth
is renewed like the eagle’s.” Psalm 103: 2-5 “How
great the love of the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God!” 1 John 3:1 Yes, young or aged we are
all still God’s children. What a blessing, what a privilege! He will care
for us even more tenderly than any earthly father who loves his children. We can trust him, and know that he loves us. An elderly gentleman, ninety
plus in years, enjoys driving his electric chair around his senior park to share the “Senior Version of Jesus Loves
Me” with his elderly neighbors. It is his way of bringing hope and joy and the love of God and His Son Jesus Christ
with those who need to know. Sing along and believe and receive God’s love
and peace into you heart, no matter what your age is. Senior
Version of JESUS LOVES ME AUTHOR UNKNOWN Jesus
loves me, this I know, Though
my hair is white as snow, Though
my sight is growing dim, Still
he bids me trust in Him. Chorus: Yes,
Jesus loves me, Yes Jesus loves me, Yes,
Jesus loves me, the Bible tells me so. Though
my steps are oh, so slow, With
my hand in His I’ll go On
through life, let come what may, He’ll
be there to lead the way. (Chorus) When
the nights are dark and long, In
my heart He puts a song… Telling
me in words so clear, “Have
no fear, for I am near”. (Chorus) When
my work on earth is done, And
life’s victories have been won. He
will take me home above, Then
I’ll understand His love. (Chorus) I
love Jesus, does He know? Have
I ever told Him so? Jesus
loves to hear me say, That
I love Him every day. (Chorus)
